William Knuttel: Soltur & Sankt Hubert Churchbooks

I am searching for the missing churchbooks for Soltur, which is currently called Banatsko Veliko Selo in Serbia. Soltur's church was actually in neighboring Sankt Hubert. This church was destroyed by the Partisans after the Nazis were driven out during WWII, as a means of punishing the ethnically German population. I have found the early churchbooks, up to 1854, in the LDS archives, and the later churchbooks, from the early 1900s on, at the Catholic Parish office in Zrenjanin, but am missing the churchbooks and records from the last half of the 19th century. Can anyone help with locating these? It is possible that they are in the parish office in Zrenjanin, but I was only given limited access during a visit there in the early 1990s.

My family is also looking for birth records during this time frame for my father. The book you are referring to was written by my great-grandfather, Nikolaus Hess. If you have not been able to find a copy we can hoepfully answer some of your questions by referring to our book. Is the only/best way of receiving these documents and other information by visiting the region?
