Bruce Sisko: Siska
I am seeking information about the family of Miklos Siska,b.1867,who emigrated to the US in 1893 with his brother Istvan,b.1854. Their parents were Janos Siska-Pestu
(or Siska-Petru)b.1824 and Marie Csubak b.1825, and lived
in house #59 according to the 1869 census. Other siblings
were Josef b.1856, Fani b.1857, Maria b.1859, and Mihaly,
b.1861. Miklos' wife, Marie Horvath-Siska, returned to Damoc
in 1904 and gave birth to Bertalan Siska in August of 1904.
Miklos returned to Damoc in 1908-09 with Bertalan and then
came back to the US. Mihaly Siska is mentioned as nearest
relative in Damoc in 1909 and apparently never emigrated.
Any information regarding this family or Damoc in 1860-1900
would be greatly appreciated. email me directly at fm4541 -k-u-k-a-c- aol -p-o-n-t- com

Margaret Paull: Re: Siska
The Damoc Greek Catholic Church Records I have on microfilm from the Family History Center. My mother in law was born there and were good friends with that family. They also belonged to my Church, years ago, St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Perth Amboy, N. J. Some of them lived in Woodbridge, N. J. It was a very large family. In the Church Records there were very, very many Siska families.

bmsisko: Re: Palko
Hello

My great great grandmother, Marie Csubak, was a Palko from Damoc. She was born in 1828. Our family, (Siska) had neighbors (probably relatives) in Woodbridge New Jersey during 1900 - 1925. My sister and I have been researching Damoc for about five years now and have much information which we would be willing to share. Please contact us with more information regarding the Palkos you seek.

Julie Pipic: Re: Palko
My great-great grandfather was Mehaj Toth Palko, my great-great grandmother was Klara. I have her maiden name but an unsure of it's spelling. My great grandfather was Istvan Toth Palko, my great grandmother was Veronika Ivan. Grandfather was George Toth Palko, born in Damoc in 1890. Immigrated to Farrell, PA in early 1900's. They always carried Toth in their middle name because that was originally our name. It was changed due to some sort of a land dispute. I am unsure of the details. Any info would be a great help. Thank you. Julie
