GaryHunt: Vrablik
I am searching for the family of Victor Vrablik and his wife Agnes. They immigrated to the US as follows. The ships records follow below. They immigrate 10 years apart to Philadelphia PA, USA. Victor went first to his brother's Frank Vrablik and was followed ten years later by Agnes who according to the immigration record went to Victor her husband.

1. Vrablik, Victor was from Hungary listed as Slovenian from Oppeln, Hungary. He arrived USA March 29, 1910 when he was approximately 32 years old. He had married Agnes Vrablik before leaving but the date is unknown. He was aboard the Kroonland sailing out of Antwerp, Belgium

2 Vrablik, Agnes was from Tcheco-Slovaky according to the ship's manifest. She was listed as ethnically Tcheco-Slovak from Dlhepole, Tcheco-Slovaky. She arrived in the USA on July 26, 1920 at the age of 35years and the manifest indicated she was married. She sailed aboard the Leopoldina out of Le Havre, Seine-Inferior, France
The manifest indicated that she was meeting her husband Victor in Philadelphia.

Any knowledge of this family would be extremely helpful.

Thanks

The village of Dlhe Pole is in Slovak Republic.
http://mapy.atlas.sk for locating a town in SK

www.zoznamst.sk SK's phone site
Surname VRABLIK lists in the area code 41 where Dlhe Pole falls but none in Dlhe Pole.

The Tcheco-Slovaky correctly is Czechoslovakia but that country from 1993 is Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.
www.adc.sk/english.slovakia/slovak04.htm
There were 3 Victor VRABLIKs that passed thru Ellis Island. One was from Oppeln (?), one from Dallepolje /Dlhe Pole?, and the third one from Iwanka / Ivanka in Nyitra megye aka Nitra county of Slovak Republic.
A listing for MUDr. Viktor Vrablik in Ivanka pri Dunaji's phone book. Iwanka was one of the old names for this town.

The Agnes Vrablik was traveling with her children Gaspar and Stefan.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records of SK so you can order the films and gather ancestral information.

Do not overlook the spelling WRABLIK, VRABLYIK on Ellis Island website. To locate an EI manifest in One Step use :
www.stevemorse.org

The Victor in question has that he was in Philadelphia, PA in 1900 and 1908. I can not locate an Oppeln. It is possible it is misspelled and Slovenian could also be a mistake as no other Vrablik was Slovenian. Well Zusanna shows up as Slovenian but that is incorrect. The town of Myjava is in Slovak Republic (Czechoslovakia is clearly written).

Smithy: Dlhe Pole
Doing research on Hanajcsik-Brodek,Cervencsik,Pacek,Uscik-Granat all from Dlhe Pole.I have the church records have browsed the 1829 census but still have alot of questions.
Why did names change around the 1850/60 period.I have Hanajcsik appending Brodek(they later travelled in German-Prussian passports to US)and Uscik appending Granat-purportedly French. Were the names Magyarized-if so how.Or did it reflect places stayed at?

Is there a social history of that area-particularly the movement of men to Silesia-Tinkers etc or France.
Is th 1869 Census available for that area-LDS have not done that area.
Would appreciate any assistance?

Thanks

This website should provide some clues :
www.iabsi.com/gen/public
www.bmi.net/jjaso for church wording

www.adc.sk/english/slovakia/slovak04.htm
www.genealogienetz.de/reg/

www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
http://vivisimo.com

It seems that they were using an alias with their surname. Maybe there were several families in the village with the same surname.

The town of Dlhe Pole's phone book is listing BRODEK, C'ERVENC'IK, PAC'EK, and GRANAT.

Gary Hunt: Re: Vrablik
I do not know Victor's profession or occupation. He certainly could have been an artist, but I do not know.
As for living in New Jersey, that is also possible. I will look for records there, but at the present time I do not know of any. The proximity of New Jersey and the Philadelphia area creates a good possibility that he may have lived there.

Thanks for your response.

Gary Hunt: Re: Vrablik
Bob, Thank you for your response to my query. Yes, I am still searching and am very interested. If you are familiar with the family of Victor and Agnes, either ancestry or descendancy I would like to know more. Actually any light you can shed on this family would be welcome. This search is for my 9 year old grandson and the Vrablik name is in his paternal ancestry, but I've hit a wall with Victor.
Thanks again,
Gary Hunt
