| Len: Re: Kolesar, Haky | My great-grandparents Maria and Petar Kolesar immigrated in 1907 from Serbia area of the Austian-Hungarian Empire.... to the Akron, Ohio (USA) area and that is where my grandmother Esther P. Kolesar was born.
The 1907 passenger list on the ship that Maria and Petar Kolesar came to the U.S. on lists their former home as in "Oberbaas, Hungary".... and lists the following person for point of contact "father: (lived at) Stari Urbas, 91 Backa". ... I assume this is Vrbas in present day Serbia.
The 1910 and 1920 U.S. Censuses state that both Petar and wife Maria were born in "Hungary" and that they spoke "Russian"... and the census indicates that their parents were also born in Hungary (Austian-Hungarian Empire) and spoke Russian.
