julia: reiss ancestors in St Michael
Hello, fellow researchers. I am looking for any information on the family of Jacob Reis/Reiss who came to U.S.A. between 1885-1890. Family lived in what was then known as St. Michael, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Settled in NYC. Jacob's father's name was Lieb and Jacob's first wife was Esther Porges. The family is Jewish.

Fred Astaire's grand grandmother was born Ester Porges in Prague in 1804 and married Simon Juda Austerlitz who was born in Prague in 1790."

is there any relation between this esther porges and the one you refer to?
