	Wnovak: Novak in Papoc I am interested in finding anyone who has knowledge of the Novak family from Papoc. I understand there were two unrelated Novak families in the village. My grandfateher, Alajos Novak, emigrated from Papoc to USA about 1906. I can ask him to mention the Novak and Somogyi names you gave from the village. Her family from Papoc was also there and they were able to fill in much information about my family. I fact I stopped at the Catholic church and tried to find records of my ancestors, but without luck. We did make contact with the Figder family at Vasar ut. 13. They are a distant relative of mine and I was able to attend the wedding of their daughter, Eva, in London in April 2004. W. 	Marika: Papoc I really appreciate receiving the aerial view of Papoc. I remember the 13th century church and 12th century monastery where all the monks were slaughtered by the Turks. I made the picture my wallpaper. We have been there a few times. My family is the Lukacs-Csiszar with a Pécsi connection. My father Pécsi, Lajos was raised there, but his family was from VasSilvagy. Mr. Novak, I too know Eva Figder. Correspondence with her ended in the early 90s or so. I would be interested in knowing whom she married in London. Prior to that had she furthered her education? 	MBV: Novak, Somogyi My gr-gr-great-grandfather was Ferenc Keszei (1830-?). His sister was Eva Keszei (1827-?). She married to Papoc, to Peter Horvath in 1851. One of their children, Tibor Horvath (1865-?) married Matild Somogyi. They had the following children: Rozalia (1891) and Maria Horvath (1894). Peter Horvath and Eva Keszei youngest child was Mate Horvath (1869-?) married Lujza Novak in 1895, Papoc. I don't know anything about their descendants. Eva has just finished her PhD in history at the University of Pecs. 	W Novak: Re: Novak, Somogyi Dear MBV, My great aunt was Somgyi Dezso, maiden name of Novak. She was my father's aunt. She was born in 1900 and died in the late 80s in Papoc. She married a Dezso but I know nothing about him. I do know there were two spearate unrelated Novak families in Papoc. Lucza Novak does not ring a bell at all. My grandfather, Alajos Novak, left Papoc about 1905 for the USA and married a Hungarian woman (my grandmother) in Ohio. I know it's earlies than the names that you are looking for but I did find a Dezso Novak born in 1883 Dezso is not a common name on these records actually it was the only Dezso Novak I found so it could possibly be connected to your line. However Dezso is a male name but here's what I found. I hope it helps. Mindig foglalkoztatott a kérés, hogy a keszői és a pápóci Dobosok között volt-e kapcsolat. A kutatás során erre nem derült fény. Amit tudok: 1895-ben Pápócon házasodott a keszői Dobos János Kis Oiliával. Otilia szülei Kis Imre és Bozsoki Borbála. Otiliának volt egy Pius nevű testvére, kiből plébános lett Szentbékkállán. Lenne-e kiegészítő információjuk a fentiekhez? Ismereteik szerint a fenti Kis családnak lehet-e leszármazottja Pápócon? 	Attila Horvath: Re: papoc Dear Marika and all those who are interested in the book above! I don’t know if this book was ever sold in stores. My parents sent me a copy by mail soon after it was first published. If I am correct, the book was distributed through the Papociak Barati Kore. Eniko & Timea Gal are active members of this group and they can probably tell you where to get your copy. Once I asked permission to scan the whole book and upload it to the Internet and I was told that it is O.K. since the book is not copyrighted. But this is a tremendous job. My keyboard doesn’t have the Hungarian characters and the Optical Character Recognition software is rejecting almost every word it doesn’t recognize and trying to replace it with an English one. It would probably take a couple of months to complete this project unless I find a software that can recognize Hungarian words. I am afraid it would be easier just to sit down and type the whole thing from cover to cover. If the book is out of print we need to find out how many more copies are needed. Nowadays publishers don’t even willing to reprint anything under 1000 copies and it wouldn’t be cheap either. If someone out there could help me out I would be more than happy to run the book trough my scanner and we could convert it into an Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word format and distribute it that way.
