Where is this name of a town written as there is nothing with that spelling. There is a Temerin in Yugoslavia and Temeres in Romania.

Mark Hoferitza: Re: Temeresti
I got the spelling from the Radix Forum "Places" link. The name I was looking for was Temesrar, which came from the Ellis Island database. I figured it was misspelled, like other requests I've made. Until yesterday I didn't realize that the "Places" link was available.

One last thing. This is a great site. I'd like to thank whoever it is that maintains this site and for the person/people who have replied to my previous posts. You have aided my research in countless ways.

Since this is a misspelled name of a town, can it be Temesvar. Would be best if you would provide a name of the ancestor as it is in Ellis Island manifest.

This site is Mr. Bogardi's. I come and post some information to the queries that are in English.

The possible ancestor is Alois Huffrusz. It's a stretch from my name, but I'm looking at all variations. The people at Ellis Island weren't always very accurate.

Thank Mr. Bagardi for me.

Mark,

The name of a town looks more like Temesvar which is Timisoara, Romania.
Does the address where this Alois was going to correspond with the address of your ancestor? Alois's birth place is listed as Nagybromslacz? I know Nagy is correctly spelled but not the rest of the name of a town.
The Hofericzas that passed thru EI were from Nagyszoczocz which is Socovce, Slovak Republic.

To locate an Ellis Island manifest in One Step use :
www.stevemorse.org
Check for Hoferic, Hoferica, Hofericz, Hofericza, and Oferica.
A listing for OFERICA in Liptovsky Mikulas, SK
www.zoznamst.sk
There is also another similar name to Huffrusz : Hufnusz and too from Temesvar.

Mark Hoferitza: Re: Temeresti
Thanks for the info on SteveMorse. That's where I got what info I have so far. It's interesting that there is an Oferica listed in Lipovsky Mikulas, SK. I also have some Hofericzas/Hofericas that came from Hricovske Podhradie, SK.

BTW, what is your name. You've been very helpful. Thanks.

Thanks Zlatica. I saw that but was unclear on the meaning. There are some names I am not familiar with.
