I am researching Gyorgy Lahita who, according to the Ellis Island website, came from Tenke. Gyorgy Lahita married a Polish woman (I do not have her name yet) and had a daughter, Paulina. Paulina became the common law wife of Miksa (Maxi) Palugyai (Palugyay), had 5 children in Pennsylvania, moved to NE Ohio and eventually died in Fairport Harbor, Ohio in the 1950s. Anyone with any information about the Lahitas from Tenke, please contact me. Thanks, Denise

It seems that the village of TENKE is in Romania in Bihar megye.
One of the other Lahitas had a name of a megye Ung by Tenke/Jenke. If this is the case, than Jenke is an old name for a village in Slovak Republic named Jenkovce.
Examine all the Lahitas manifest or at least the ones that are from Tenke/Jenke/Zenke. To me the letter L in Lahita seemed more like a Z as that is how I write Z.

The name LAHITA does seem to show up in Slovak Republic's phone book.
