Researching my grandfather's Hungarain roots. Ellis I manifest indicated origin was Vehecz Hungary. Found a "Vehecz" on a circa 1900 map which geographically seems to correspond exactly with Vechec which is now apparently just north of the Hungarian Slovakian border. Family name was Salmanowitz

The town of VECHEC is in Slovak Republic which is in the Eastern region of SK not far from a town, Vranov nad Toplou.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records so check out their website for the films which you can order and gather ancestral information.
