Whom It May Concern
Subject: My hometown has alternate names: Ol'khovka [Rus], Vil'khivka [Ukr], Vlachovo [Cz], Ölyvös [Hun], Lahyf [Yid], Oljachova [Slov], Ölyves, Vlahova, Vilkivka, Vil'chivka
I was born in 1927, in a small village that called, Vlachovo, (Carpathian Ruthenia) in Czechoslovakia. Today, it is located in South West of Ukraine, and the new name is, Vil'chivka, (Carpatho-Ukraine) in Ukraine.
I am trying gathering information in hope of compiling a Family History (family tree). I am looking for information about Goldstein family and Herskovits family from Vlachovo village in Irshavsky Raion, in Transcarpathian Oblast.
In addition, I am looking for some information about:
• My village (today) is - Vil'chivka (aka, Ölyvös, Вільхівка, Ольховка) in Ukraine.
• The district of my village: - Irshavsky Raion (aka, Іршавський район, Іршаўскі раён) in South West of Ukraine (aka, Zakarpattia Oblast, Закарпатська область, Ugocsa, Maramaros).
The information that I am looking for, is the history of the place, maps of the village. Moreover, I am looking for people from this place.
It would also be very helpful if you could refer me to other people who might have information about the village. In addition, I would also appreciate any information that you could provide about the families that lived there.
Thanks you in advance for all your help.
Sincerely,
David Hershkovich
