| Debbie: Re: genealogy | Hi Dennis,
I believe your Andras Slifka is my great uncle.
Please write to me at wagenfour -k-u-k-a-c- aol.com -p-o-n-t- I have been trying for over 16 years to find my grandfather's family.
Your Andres Slifka is the brother to my grandfather Janos(John)'s Slivka(He later changed it to Slifko). His mother was Anna Chaly and his father was Janos Slivka and they were from Zbudske Dluhe, Slovakia. Janos moved to the United States in 1921 and his wife, and two daughters my aunt and my mother came here to New Jersey in 1923. Janos lived with one brother in Indiana. I believe it was with Marton. Janos my grandfather was borh in 1894.
Marton Slivka changed his name to Slifka.
He lived in Hammond Indiana and died in Taylor Springs, Ill.
My grandfather died in 1982 but I have been trying to locate his family.
I know that Anna Chaly Slivka (Born 1855) and Janos Slivka (Born 1851), from Zbudske Dluhe, Slovakia, had six children. Andras (Andrew)Born 26 Nov. 1876, Mihaly, born 23 Aug. 1878, Marton, born 11 Nov. 1881, Joszef, born 13 Jan 1886, Anna, born 29 July 1888 and Janos (My grandfather) was the youngest, born 23 Dec. 1894.
I was always told that my grandfather had two brothers that came to the US but not too much other information was given. Later, in the late 70's my grandfather said that he had a brother in Pa. but no one knew anything else. Is Andrew by any chance from there.
I would really like to get in contact with you to compare notes and would love to be in contact with my grandfather's family. My grandmother came from a large family, most of which we are still in contact with. My grandmother was from Kudlovce, Slovakia which is where my grandparents lived till they moved here.
Please email me at wagenfour -k-u-k-a-c- aol -p-o-n-t- com
Hope so much that you read this.
