Üdv: Nóri Hi Nora, I am in the US, but I saw your name and I know that my grandfather's brother moved to Hungary. Just wondered if it was a coincidence. When I was younger his grand daughter, Helen, or Ilona, came to the US also. My mother's maiden name was Wendl. Hope to hear from you! Bert Piccirillo Bert McVicker Piccirillo Megjelölés ismerősként Ma, 0:41-kor Üzenet jelentése Hello Nora, I am so glad to hear from you. I hope you will forgive me for writing in English. I do not know the Hungarian language and would have to use the computer to translate it for me. It seems as though your English is very good, so I hope you will forgive me, as I think you will understand the English better than German or Hungarian. This may take you a while to translate, so I will be very patient to hear your answer. I have a letter from my cousin, Ilona or Helen, who immigrated to the US in about 1955 or so. A couple of years ago I found a letter (written in 1976) which was from Helen which said that she had talked with her mother, Maria, who was living in Budapest then. The farthest back (that I know) is the names of my grandfather's parents, Michael Wendl and Klara Muller. They probably lived from about 1850-1920. They had 5 boys and one girl, Marie. The boys were Antal (who stayed in Austria and died in World War I), Joseph, who settled in Canada, Mike and John (my grandfather) who settled in the US in about 1900 and finally Mathue who went to Hungary. Our grandfather's family, had come from Leka, Austria (which was part of Hungary at that time, County Vas) They moved to Hosszuszegkuta, Burgeland where Mathue was born. In 1901 Mathue married Emma Angler and settled in Csempeszkopacs, Vas County, Hungary. They had two girls, Maria, and Ilona. Emma died in 1911 and he married Gizella Komaromy in 1914. They had a daughter Roza. Maria married Jozsef Angler, Ilona married Menyhert Angler and Roza married Karoly Viniczai. So now that I am looking at this - all of Mathue's decendents were girls, so they no longer have the name Wendl. If we are related, we would have to be back at least one generation. Are any of these towns that I have named near the town from which your family came? Thank you so much for answering. I hope to hear from you again.! Bert
