Hallo Slobodan,
You known sure that the most of the Germans after and during the second world war leave that village.
The guy who search for his family known that too.
I know that the last german leave Brestovac 1958 his name
was Rupaner. Exept a few families with serbian or hungarian partners.
The German people of backi Brestovac are now spread out over the hole world. Hoever in Brestovac we had Serbian neigboors and now we have serbian neigboors and colleges too.
How old are you? I am 63 and I am born in Backi Brestovac
in 1940.
My Family live there 160 Years and in Odcaci since 1760.

my grandma was born in 1922 as daughter of kapp josef. his brother, stefan born 26.12.1895 has leaving austria an went to pennsylvania (reading). stefan and josef are sons of kapp anton born 30.07.1866 an dörner eva born 04.05.1871.

I am also related to Kapp. My family also came from Backi-Brestovac. My family's name was Kopschitz. We have Lucia Kapp in our family tree. Her father's name was Joseph Kapp. She was originally from the Black Forest I believe. She had a son named Josef Emrich, which is on my grandmother's side of the family. My grandmother's maiden name was Rosalia Emrich. She was born in Backi-Brestovac, and so was my father, John Kopschitz. My family then came to the US during WWII and settled in Ohio. I do know my grandmother's brother lived in Reading, PA. I do believe Eva Dorner is also on my family tree. Feel free to email me

I think that the name Kapp originated as Kopschitz, which came from Jakobcsics (many spellings for all of these names.) Do you know anything about this? My great-great-grandparents were Friedrich Dorner, married to Anna Jacobcsics. Their children were born in the Palanka area, but there were many connections with Backi Brestovacs--Dorner/Doerners, Ruppaners, etc. I also had a relative in a displaced persons area in western Germany who came from Brestovacs whose name was Kopschitz. My family the Kahny's came to Batsch-Brestowatz, where a large portion of the family settled until they moved to Zemun, Apatin and Lovas. My direct line goes to Lovas, however even the 2nd generation in lovas got married in Brestowatz.(Eva Straub and Johann Kahni.) In my search for records, I have came across a Simon Kaup who was married to a Catharina Kani. They had childredn in Lovas from 1831 to 1844. Lovas was settled late. most came around 1820-1850. The Kahni's came in 1815 as indicating from the first birth. I do believe Catharina Kani is a daughter of Johann Kani and Catharina Beck the 1st generation. I have have not found the record though that nor where Johann and Catharina were married. Any help of with any of the relations would be great.

There are 2 towns named Brestowatz. One east of Belgrade where your family may have been from and one SE of Sombor. Info on the later can be found at www.geocities.com/ma1fisch1

My father born in ungarn 1935. He spend sommer times in Backi Gracac. His name is Andras Rupaner. My grandfather is Antal Rupaner (killed by rosian solders 1945) and grand mother is magdalena Maixner. I can tel you some other names Meixner Jozef and meixner-Horn katalin.

My family was born there: my mother's maiden name was Kapp.They left the war zone firstly to go to Hungaria where they weren't welcome and made there way through to Europe and became french citizen after spending a few years in a refugee camp.

Yes I am Veronika Kapp's daughter. She was born 12/05/1924.
Her mother was Nadelstumpf Anna, her father Jacob Kapp.My mother's sisters were Katarina, Maria (passed away in Gakowo) and her brother Josef Kapp (now passed away) settled in the US. He was maried to Eva Baller.

yes my father was Spiegl Josef (now Spiegel Joseph), born in Backi Brestovac October 1924. His mother was magdalena spiegl, born 1905.
I don't know about relatives in Chicago, but it could be that my father had relatives in Canada. Will add some info later.

Linz. Danach zog meine Familie (Georg u. Theresia Milla,
Andreas Lerner u. Eva Schladt nach Ahlen / Westfalen.
In Straßburg und Benfeld leben weitere Verwandte, die ich
persönlich kennengelernt habe und die Du sicher auch kennst. Mit den Spiegeln hatten meine Eltern Kontakt in Linz; ich glaube daß ein Spiegel ihr Trauzeuge war.

My grandfather's youngest sister migrated to the United States in the 1940s (after being put into a camp for 18 months) and helped many others leave Brestovac. She has a book explaining the history of the town written and printed in German. She will be 103 next March! I believe she has a photo of the church shown below, where she was married.

My grandmother Katharina Pramberger was born in 1903 in Backi Gracac. Her parents had already settled in New York City and were working with Mr. Steinway at his piano factory in Queens. Well her mother decided she didn't like NY (or America) anymore and after an argument left her husband to return to Europe. She didn't know she was pregnant with my grandmother. Once back in Backi Gracac she realized she was with child, liked Backi Gracac even less than NYC, had my grandmother and returned to her husband lol!

My grandfather Mathias Mulijan DOB:18/12/1896 grandmother Katharina Vodencicar DOB:26/2/1893 (born in Sonta)....The names of Mathias parents are NOT in Sonta records so he may have been born and baptized in another villiage. Mathias had a sister Anna Moullion and she married 15/10/1920
Information I have received is that Mathias grandfather may have been Andreas Moullion baptized, 21 June 1856. Andreas parents were Mathias Moullion and Anna Leinenberg but this information is not concrete.
My father was in the German military. He, my mother and siblings, left Yugoslavia 1953 on to Germany to what I beleive was a DP camp from there 1959 migrated to Australia. I have compiled many letters (translated) my only language is english to Serbian archives requesting information hard copies etc but its been months and I never get replies. So I am a little stuck and at a lost and do appreciate any bit of information.
