Fran: Grandparents
I am searching for my ancestors. My grandfather's name was Bobos Istvan from Bobrov Slovakia, he married Krizsan Ilona from Bekescsaba Hungary. Ilona's parents were Krizsan Marton and Laurinyecz Ilona. Krizsan Marton's [date of birth 1851 Oct. 24] parents were Krizsan Gyorgy and Johanidesz Zsusanna. Laurinyecz Ilona's [date of birth 1852 Dec. 25] parents were Laurinyecz Andras and Zatyko Paulik Ilona. This is as far as I have been able to trace my grandmother Krizsan Ilon [date of birth 29 Sep. 1876. I am looking for church or civil records for 1855 and before.

My father - Mihayl Laurinyecz - was born in Bekescaba and his parents were Pal Laurinyecz and Maria Toth. I believe your Ilona is my great great grandfather sister - will need to check the records.

Have we talked in the past?

Bekescsaba - Miklya forum: takacsagnes: (A Nagymamám Miklya Dorottya ...)
Rinaku: Kapus Mihály, * 1890ies
For my family history, I'm looking for a person called Kapus Mihály, born around 1895. He and his family (parents, one sister) lived in Békéscaba as free peasants.
He might have been a dress maker (his sister carried on with the parental farm) or some related artisan. For certain, he was a board member, probably president of the dress maker's society. In this function, he was also involved in the "feminist" movement of his time and profession. Unfortunately, he died in the last weeks of 1st World War.
Does anybody know more about him?

But he was not a Mormon, and I can't imagine someone made him be one. Isn't that a problem?

A segítséget előre is köszönöm.

László.

Bekescsaba - Hajos forum: Tajti-Hajós Sándor: Békés Vármegyei ősi Hajós ág ...
Margaret: Gretch of Bekescsaba
I am attempting to help someone researching the surname Gretch - or at least that is the name the family went by after emigrating to USA in early 1900s. My friend's g grandfather Michael Gretch was from Bekescsaba.

My question is could someone please tell me how this name would possibly have been spelt in Hungarian. I suppose when they got to USA that they said a name and the Immigration Officer wrote it down as "Gretch"

Thanking you in anticipation

rkozma: Re: Gretch of Bekescsaba
Hello Margaret,

I think this name in hungarian: "Grecs" or "Grecso".
What is Grecs Mihaly religion?
Are you sure he was born in Bekescsaba? Or region/county of Bekescsaba?
I do not find him in Ellis Island Databases.

Zlatica : Re: Gretch of Bekescsaba
Margaret

What US documents have been located on the ancestor named GRETCH? Anything in way of an arrival manifest, draft registration form, naturalization intent and petition, church marriage record, social security numbers form?

No US Immigration Officer changed the spelling since the manifests were written at the port of departure.
