Tehát a dédapám vezetékneve "titkosított". Kíváncsi lennék eme rejtélyre. Édesapám Zsirke István, szül: Bp. 1942. január.

stejwill1: Tracing biological father
I am trying to locate my natural father whom I believe was involved in the Hungarian Uprising. I was born in the UK in February 1958, my mother's name was Jean Sigley. She met my father while he was billeted at a school in either Mile Oak or Fazeley, both towns close to Tamworth in Staffordshire. I believe he was there with a number of other refugees from the Uprising. I know his first name was Josef and that he was from Budapest. I believe he had been wounded in the shoulder (shot) and I also believe the authorities wished to question him about the death of a Russian soldier. I understand he returned to Hungary in 1957/58. I think he wrote to my mother (who died a few years ago) for a while after his return, then contact stopped. I have been trying for a number of years to track him down. I have made enquiries with the Home Office in the UK, the Hungarian Embassy in Canberra (I presently live in Australia), the British and Hungarian Embassies in Vienna ( I understand many refugees fled Hungary via Vienna) and the Prime Minister's Office in Hungary. Unfortunately none of these enquiries proved fruitful - I was trying to see if any lists had been maintained of persons leaving Hungary/entering the UK or returning to Hungary in the late 50s. I have also asked close relatives in the UK if they are able to help but unfortunately all of the relatives who may have been able to help are now dead. I was wondering if there were any organisations in Hungary or associations of persons caught up in the Uprising who I might be able to contact to see if they are able to help me by putting my story in a newspaper/newsletter/web page etc to see if it elicited any response. It is in this regard I seek your assistance - perhaps you know of such organisations or might be able to put me in touch with someone who does - I can then continue with my search. I do appreciate I am searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack but feel that until I have tried all avenues open to me I cannot stop searching. I look forward to hearing from you.

Anna: Re: Tracing biological father
Stephen,
Have you tried to contact the Red Cross, as your father was injured, it is possible they helped him to a place of safety. Also, if you know his date of birth, religion & town of origin, write to the Polgarmesteri [Town Hall] in that town who may be able to give you further information & even trace relatives & contact them. However, if this happens they will have to give their permission for their details to be passed to yourself. I visited Hungary recently & the Polgarmesteri staff were so helpful - they managed to trace living relatives & contact them for me. Good luck. Anna

Hungarian Cdn: Erkel Family relatives
I am researching my family tree and know that we are related to the famous Hungarian composer Ferenc Erkel. I have a little information and want to find a missing link in my family tree... which of Ferenc's 4 sons is my great-great-great grandfather. How can I go about doing this. We tried to go to the bureau of vital statistics in Budapest, but were denied entry for some reason. We also don't speak Hungarian. As far as I know, we are the last living descendents.

Try to contact "Országos Széchényi Könyvtár" (E-mail: manuscriptum -a-t- oszk -d-o-t- hu) where some letters are stored from them, they might give you a hand with that. Good luck!
