There is also a RAK Stefan arriving in 1913 from Felsocsebinye, going to brother-in-law Dzugan, Mike in Pittsburg, Pa, left a mother RAK Jala ?

Mick: Re: Familoy history
Deborah,

there is only one church in Cabiny. Nizne Cabiny, Horbok and Vysne Cabiny are three parts of village Cabiny. Your ancestor was Carpatho-Rusyn and villagers are Carpatho-Rusyns. You can see my photographs from this village here:

For me, it would be best to see the whole baptismal paper.
I have a site for church wording but it has only Hungarian, Latin and Slovak, no Rusin.

i just spent two hours going through counties of Arad, 1913 and the same names keep coming up. not one Demko came up for any placename. Yet on 1891 database you show five demkos living in Arad. I would not pay good money for stuff like this.

Zlatica : Re: ROCK = RAK
Hi Debi

Happy to hear that you found the Draft Registration Form.
As you might know, what you have is one and the same but very much misspelled, transcribed the way an American/English speaking ear heard it, the name of a village. The village is C'abiny, Zemplin region of Slovak Republic. The 057 is the telephone area code that the village of Cabiny falls into in www.zoznamst.sk
From www.obce.info village Cabiny has 396 inhabitants. You will find some photos of the church in C^abiny in www.rusin.sk The LDS-Mormons site is listing Greek Catholic church records of Cabiny. I think it would be good for you to order them and see for yourself.
A map of Hungary: http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm A map of Hungarian megye: http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Zemplen, locate Mezolaborcz (Medzilaborce in Slovak), South of M. you should see F.(Felso)& A. (Also) Csebinye which is C'abiny in Slovak. Your Chabinne sort of comes out as C'abiny.
An ALL site for research in Slovak Republic:
www.iabsi.com/gen/public
www.tccweb.org
www.c-rs.org
I left you my e-mail address in previous post, if you would like to contact me off the board.
How about Anna RAK arriving in 1905 from F. CZEBINA or from Grabine? www.ellisislandrecords.org
Ancestry is giving free access to passenger manifest, no credit card till November 30.

Zlatica: Re: ROCK = RAK
Hi Debi

I thought that maybe Grabine was a transcribing error for Csabine, not. Anna RAK from F.(Felso) CZEBINA arriving in 1905 going to brother Michal PANKA, Washington Street, Pittsburg, Pa.
I find in area code 057 a surname PANKO. www.zoznamst.sk
Use a one step/ www.stevemorse.org to locate people from a particular village.
