1344: STILL SEARCHING
LOOKING FOR INFO ON SCHWINDL FAMILY. PAPERS READ THAT MY GRANDFATHER JOHANN SCHWINDL WAS FROM DUNACSEB BACSBODROG BORN MAY 5, 1885, JOHANN CAME TO THE U.S. ONCE IN 1900 AND AGAIN WITH WIFE KATHERINE EISMANN BORN JUNE 4, 1884 ALSO FROM SAME AREA ,WITH HER PARENTS IN ABOUT 1910.
SCHWINDL FAMILY ALBUM HOLDS TWO SEPIA PHOTOS OF MONUMENTS DONATED TO THE TOWN OF DUNACSEB (CELAREVO) BY THE SCHWINDL FAMILY.
THE OLDEST BROTHER SCHWINDL INHERITED THE FARM IN DUNACSEB WHILE MY GRANDFATHER AND A YOUNGER BROTHER NICK AND SISTER KATHERINE CAME TO AMERICA WHILE ANOTHER SISTER MOVED TO ARGENTINA. THE FARM WAS MISMANAGED AND LOST BY ALCHOHOLIC OLDEST BROTHER. THERE WAS SOME NAME CHANGING GOING ON ACCORDING TO THE BITS AND PIECES I'VE BEEN ABLE TO GATHER BUT NOTHING THAT I COULD FIND IN THE INDEX. IT'S LIKE WE NEVER EXISTED. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. OUR FAMILY IS GERMAN SPEAKING, MY GRANDFATHER SCHWINDL SPOKE SEVEN LANGUAGES, WAS IN THE AUSTRIAN ARMY, WORKED WITH WHEAT AND WAS CATHOLIC. MY GREAT GRANDFATHER ISEMANN, MATHIAS WAS A CABINET MAKER WE ARE WAITING TO GET OUR HANDS ON HIS PAPERS TO HAVE THEM TRANSLATED IN HOPES OF FINDING MORE INFORMATION.

hello,
my family is also from Tscheb. This is the old German name for Celarevo. My Fathers name is Andreas Wilding. His parents were Peter Wilding and Katharina Wilding born Ernst. My father often told me that his cousin's name as Schwindl.
My grandfather has together with other relatives a wheat mill on the river Donau. There is a family register from Tscheb. I'll try to get it as a pdf file.

Diane: Re: STILL SEARCHING
Hello,
By chance I saw your posting. I am interested in your Wilding line. I have a Peter Wilding born 1839 in Steiermark, Austria. Married Regina Pichler (Pachlor, Bachlor from Unter Karten, Austria). Peter mother was Katharina Wilding. I have no father listed. Could there be any connection?
Thank you,

By chance I found your posting. My grandparents' name was Schwindle, Michael and Catherine. My grandmother's maiden name was Weber, born 1879. We understand that they came from Ceb, probably around 1910 and settled in Akron, Michigan where they bought a farm. My grandmother's father was reportedly the burgermeister. My grandfather was in the military. Very little information is available about the family but I am interested in researching it. I have attached a old photo of my grandmother's sister and presumably her children. The back of the photo had a caption but we cannot translate it. Also, there is a name of the photography studio which may be a help in understanding its origin. Any information would be great.

1344: Re: STILL SEARCHING
It's been awhile, and I have recently recieved messages, with connections that are too close to ignore, which has sparked my interest again.
But I have realized that what I am really looking for is where did my family come from before Celarevo, Tcseb.
My understanding from my grandparents was that the land was homesteaded
when the ruling monarchy at the times was trying to expand his domain.
The dunaschwabins, who traveled down the Danube (from where? when? how?
why? who?) all I have is the what.

1344: Re: STILL SEARCHING
I have a clip from the LDS-Mormons family history center.
I cannot read it.

a roviditesek magyarazata:

np. =novendekpap; - St. n. = Stefaneumi novendek ; - od.=
osztondijas ; - ism. = ismetlo; - izr. izraelita vallasu; - ref. =
reformatus; - ag. ev. = agostai evangelikus; - gor. kath. =
gorog katholikus vallasu. A rom. kath. ifjak vallasa nem jeleztetik.

the np, St. n., od., ism., izr., ref., ag. ev., gor. kath.. are in bold script as well as the headline.

But I have realized that what I am looking for is beyond t-cseb. up the danube, the origin of the family before homesteading in Dunacseb.

Hi Gerd
It's been awhile, I am back On The Trail again, But I think what I have realized is that I am looking to find the origination of the Schwindl, Eisman, family before homesteading in Tscheb, We were referred to as the dunaschwabens, as were many. Who chose to take our family down the Danube to a new land, how did they get there, when, why. My father, Mathias Schwindl claimed to have an Aunt, living in Austria, in the mountains. Is this the origin. I wonder. I am looking for documentation.
I have never heard the family speak of Wilding's, But the wheat mill on the river Donau. how exciting. How may I find the family register for Tscheb, I understood that war bombing had destroyed most of these.

Hi,

ok the Germans were setled in this area around 1750 by Maria Theresia. She wantes to settle people in this emty swamp land. The got money to go there with small boots. What they found was no farmland but a swamp ...
The releatinship between Wilding and Schwindl was that my Grandpa's mother Maria Wildning(Lang) married Martin Schwindl after her husnab died during WWI

Emma: Re: STILL SEARCHING
Maybe you could pass this postcard on for use in the Palanka (Deutsch, Backa Palanka) website?

feldenzer -a-t- feldenzer -d-o-t- com has a copy of the family book in Palanka and also Duna Tscheb/ D.Cseb/Celarevo, and the family surnames are listed on that site type in Deutsch Palanka and you'll find it, also you will find other website connections to villages where there were many Danube Germans.
DAvid Dreyer's website has extractions of ships/immigrants to U.S., and he also has a book of Military in the Austro-Hungary, this could possibly help you.
I am looking for info. on the BORS /BORSCH family from Duna Tsceb/D.Cseb/Celarevo.
