hello I am just starting some family research about my grandmothers family from this region of Slovakia, which used to be part of Hungary. I know that my great grandmother left a village with a name sounding like Galbotov from what my grandmother Mary Supenia(married name, maiden name Barron) said when she was alive. My great grandmother Katherine Baron(her married surname in US, maiden name from Slovakia still unknown)departed for the USA from Budaphest, Hungary and arrived in New York City, New York first before heading out to Western Pennsyvania coal mining area North of Pittsburgh, PA she eventually settled in towns of Madera and Ramey from what I know. She was practicing Greek Catholic.
Any additional information about this woman, family, ancesetors is greatly appreciated.

My family is from Gaboltov and when they arrived in the USA resided in both Madera and Ramey,PA. I don't recall any one with the name "Baron" or any spelling like that. What years sre you talking about? Records in Gaboltov for the years 1854 to 1895 are easily avaiable. Census records for
Ramey for the years 1900,1910,1920 and 1930 are also easily obtained.

I am also just starting and would appreciate your sharing any information that you find about Gaboltov; I will gladly do the same. My grandfather, Josef Tuch, came from Gaboltov and settled in Ramey, PA, later moving to Houtzdale, PA. My grandmother, Julia Zelinsky Tuch, was born in Ramey. My last remaining relative from the area, a second cousin Genevieve Buranovsky Larson, died recently at the age of 94, taking my best resource with her.
