| Dave Kovalcik: Re: Kisiczki from Gadna | Hello Beverly,
good to hear from you.
I know about the notes that Ray (my dad) gave to Mike Bravis at our home in 1969. All of the information was from my Great Aunt Julia and the Eva and Andrew Kovalcik's wedding certificate.
I lived in Lloydsville until 1970. Although I was quite young, I remember Julia.
Andrew and Eva were married at a Roman Catholic Church in Nova Lubovna, Slovakia, (Spies County) in the Tatry mountain area.
Andrew, My great grandfather came to the port of NY on May 22, 1886. Eva, Andy Jr. and Julia, arrive on Nov 23, 1893. They traveled from NY to Bitumen, PA where my great grandfather and possibly his brothers or step brothers were coal mining. These brothers (possibly named Pete and Paul) got into a dispute with my Great Grandfather (possibly in Lloydville at a later time) and were never heard from again.
The family moved to Lloydville around 1900. Building a brand new 2 story home in that year.
From my research of census data and church records from Spies region and Nova Lubovna, I have learned that Eva Bravis was the daughter of Johannis and Regina (Evac) Bravis. I am not sure what the "Evac" name shown on Eva's wedding certificate means. I am not sure about the "Nadjadi" name. Do you have any info on either of these names?
Also, I have developed information from Nova Lubovna church records that supports the fact that Regina Bravis's maiden name was Turlic.
And also, Johannas's first wife's name was Hedgwig Konkoly. Hedgwig died, and then Johannas Bravis married Regina Turlic.
Also, from my research I have proven that Eva was the child of the marriage between Hedgwig and Johannas. Therefore Regina Bravis was Eva's Step Mother.
Also, Regina had a child prior to being married to Johannas, her name was Thelka Turlic.
According to ships manifests that I have collected, Regina and Thelka came to Latrobe in the early 1900's (I have the specific dates in my file) and lived with Andrew and Eva.
I do not know what happened to Thelka.
Eva Bravis Kovalcik and Andrew Kovalcik had the following children. (I have all specific dates and locations of births and deaths in my file)
Ambrosious (child buried at Nova Lubovna)
Julia (lived in Lloydville, never married, died 1976)
Andy (died in auto accident Ann Arbor 1923)
Joe (died)
Frank (died)
John(My Grand Father,lived in Lloydville,died Aug 27 1945)
Pete (died)
I know I have at least one photo I would like to email you that is of Clara Bravis Voytech and her husband John Voytech. I think Clara was my grandfathers cousin.
There is so much that I have learned and much more to learn.
