I have located some of my grandfather's family who lived in the little town of Jasenov, near Sobrance. His mother came from the town just below it, Ruskovce. Her maiden name was Maria Dzvonik (spelling?). Looks like Degouyik on baptismal certificate. His name was Pal Dankocsik.
Any other information would be appreciated. He and his mother came to the US in 1907 and went to West Virginia's coal mines at Monongah. That's where the big disaster occurred shortly after he arrived.

To me the surname is DZGONYIK which would equal to Slovak spelling of DZVONIK. What sort of information are you looking for? Did you go thru the church records that LDS-Mormons filmed?
Surname DZVONIK shows up in Ruskovce's and Jasenov's phone book. www.zoznamst.sk

Hi Zlatica,

I didn't realize it was you! You are the one who helped me locate my relatives there! and translated the baptismal certificate. I just posted to see if anything else could be found. We have been in almost constant contact with our 'new' relatives, thanks to you.

I did not realize it was you. Did you check in www.helenezx.homestead.com Slovak Pride for the surnames and also in www.geoportal.sk/roep/e.php ?
I am sure you used One Step www.stevemorse.org and found all the DZVONIKs, DZVONYIKs,DANKOCSIKs and DANKOCIKs that came thru EI.
