I will have my aunt in Germany try and contact some of those names. I know I have several relatives still living in Kecsked so maybe they can remember some of the names of their Grandparents and Great Grand Parents. Thanks for your help

Your welcome.
You know that the LDS-Mormons filmed the church records of Kecsked? You can order the films and gather the ancestral information.

Hello Jason!

I'm Alex from Hungary. I don't know that you need any information about Hungarian Zettisch family today, but I find your message now, and I tell you what I know. The Zettish family is a german family who lived in Kecskéd( in german-Ketschkr-) and closed to this small town in Komárom megye Hungary. I think it was a big family, but from the begining(in Hungary) there were only two brothers with this name. They came to Hungary about the middle of the 1700 years. Their name exactly were Karl and Fridericus or Federico Zetish. Zetish meaning was similar to prayer, a person who ask for help. After the name was Czetisch, but only in Karl's name(Carolo Czetisch) That time in the Habsburg Empire priests used together the latin and the german language.:-) About the 1790-s when Michael was born, the name transformed into the dubble tt version=Zettisch. But this word means totally different for example:a person who attach label to something; a person who making stamps, or simply who works with letters.:) They came from south Germany-Baden Württemberg-.

I hope I can Help.

Szia (bye-bye)

Sanyi(Alex):-)

zettischalex: Re: Kecsked
Yes.But the documents are in the Archive.
This is my story from the begining: The father of my grandmother was István(Stefan) Zettl. His father was József Zettl, he was born in Kecskéd -in german Kätschke-with his original name-as I think- Josephus Zettisch. I went to the Hungarian Country Archive and I wrote down the genalogy of the Zettisch family. I attached a list from the settlers who grounded Kecskéd in the middle of the 1700 years. The two Zetisch brothers are in the end of the second list. These list can helps you, but unfortunatelly they were written in German language. The link is:( www.ungarndeutsche.de/kecsked)-if you would like to see. In the first list you will not see
the family, so they came between 1754-1760 to this place.
With this documents-and the same in the Archive-resulted that I thought we came from a south german country Württenberg. But, if the original name was Zettisch, and not Zetisch..then our ancestors could be a Bavarian family, because most of this name appared in Bavaria(Bayern),and there is a small town with this name(Zettisch) in the Bavarian Forest near to the Czech-German boarder.

So here are the list:

Kecskéd/Kätschke, Komárom-Esztergom megye/Komitat Komorn-Gran, Josef Esterházy siedelte 1735 württembergische Schwaben an, dann kamen 1744 aus Gegend des Neusiedlersees auch deutsche und ungarische Siedler. Die ersten Aufzeichnungen in den Kirchenbüchern stammen aus 1735. Das ist das wahrscheinliche Datum der Neubesiedlung. Bowman: Re: Kecsked
Jason, it's Patrick. I found one of our relatives in Minneapolis. Her name is Bernadett Czettisch. Her great grandmother (Vavipasl) is Omas's sister. Her parents still live in Kecsked. Mom and Lisi have visited them before. She put together a nice page on Kecsked. You've probably seen it. It's part of Minnesota Hungarians.

What was your mother's name? I'm Jason's brother (Patrick). We must be related. Our grandmother was Erzebet Zettisch. She married Mathias Dorner.

Jacobi Andras: Re: Kecsked
Jason
I have already contacted the Jakobi family, living in Kecskéd . There was some response by a lady called: Hlotyákné Jakobi Sarolta, with email address: "jakobisaci -a-t- citromail.hu" -d-o-t-

She promised me to give some details about her Jakobi named ancestors. I am not sure, whether she can speak any other language than Hungarian. But you may try.

Best regards
Andreas Jacobi Jr.

adeva: Kecskéd település -története
Közelmúltban került kezembe a "Kecskéd település története"cimű kiadvány. Jakobi Gyula Kecskéd újratelepitése a 18.században cimű fejezetben nyitott kérdésként maradt fenn, honnan származhattak egyes Környéről Kecskédre került családok nevei.Közülük 2 családdal kapcsolatban tudok információval szolgálni. A Goór családnév 1746-tól szerepelt a környei anyakönyvekben, magyar családként.A sváb többségű közösségben kötött vegyes házasság révén váltak német anyanyelvűvé, olyannyira az 1947-es kitelepítés során a kitelepítettek közé sorolták Őket. A másik az Erl családnév, ök Bohémiából, Csehország németek lakta vidékéről kerültek Környére az 1746-os betelepülés során.Származási helyükre több anyakönyvi bejegyzés is utal.
Bizom benne, hogy az elhúnyt Jakobi Gyula kutatását folytatóknak tudtam segiteni.
Üdvözlettel:Adorján Éva
