Lee Ann: Lovaszpatona
The 1900s military map of Lovaszpatona has a notation of "157" below the name of the village. What does this mean? Population? My ancestors came from this village immigrating to the US in 1905; the village is so small I'm having difficulty finding information about it. Does anybody know about it, or a source for information?
Thanks.

Zlatica : Re: Pruszki/Pruszky
Why not start your search checking out Ellis Island manifests for the surname PRUSZKI and PRUSZKY.

www.dogpile.com
www.google.com are two of many search engines.

www.matav.hu/english_/index.html Hungarian phone site

I checked thru search engine and there was a posting on Ancestry board and possibly by you about Somogyi castle. Did that long discussion not bring any answers?

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Somogy

Possibly an elevation of the town / area.

The village of Lovaszpatona is in the Veszprem megye.
The old 1910 map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Veszprem.
It is right at the beginning of the map South of Kispecz and Kajar.

They must be working on the website for this village.

teristurm: Re: Pruszki/Pruszky
I have checked everywhere. The only Pruszki contacts I have found are from Poland. The family I am researching was in Papa, Hungary before moving to Lovaszpatona. I have found records as early as the 1700s. They seem to be the only Pruszki family.

Thanks for you help.

Your welcome.

You know that the name Pruszki seems to be of Slavic origins and SKI would be Polish and SKY used in Slovak grammar.

LeeAnn: Re: Lovaszpatona
Thanks so much for your help! You not only helped me to find Lovaszpatona, but also the village of my grandfather's birth (Kispecz.)
I looked at the Lovaszpatona website. I am having great difficulty, even with dictionaries, translating from Hungarian to English. Any suggestions as to how I might do this?
Thanks again.

Lee Ann: Re: Surnames for Lovaszpatona
I am searching for Joszef Gerencer (b.1867) and Julianna Molnar Gerencser (b.1865), my great-great grandparents. I know she was born in Lovaszpatona and their son Istvan, my grandfather, was born in Kespecz in 1898. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1905; passport was issued in Lovaszpatona, point of departure was Antwerp. That is all I know about them.

teristurm: Re: Surnames for Lovaszpatona
LeeAnn,
I have a contact in Hungary. She is the great great great grandaughter of Janos Gerencer and Julia Molnar. Her line is through Julianna Gerencer, their daughter. Janos Gerenser and Julia Molnar were married in Egyhazaskeszo (very close to Lovaszpatona). I have the microfilm of the church records of Egyhazaskeszo and Lovaszpatona. Janos Gerencer and Julia Molnar were married April 9, 1815. I have found marriage records of two other children of Janos and Julia. They are: Julianna Gerencer and Janos Gerencer. Julianna married Istvan Sass Feb 9, 1851 and Janos married Margit Nagy Nov. 11, 1838. The marriage record of J. Gerencer and Julia Molnar listed his parents as being Paulus Gerencer and Catherine Nagy. Her parents are Stephanus Molnar and Eva Imre. This must be the line of your great great grandparents. I know the dates are not right with your dates so if you want, I will check the microfilms to see if I can find your great great grandparents. You can e-mail me at Lntsturm -a-t- earthlink -d-o-t- net

4 GERENCSERs in Lovaszpatona. Do not type the full name since this name has a diacritical marking on the last E.
I located an Andrea, Istvan, Istvanne(Mrs. Istvan) and Viktoria.

Lee Ann: Kajarpec (Kispecz)
I am looking for information about the village of Kajarpec in Gyor county. My grandfather was born there in 1898. I know only its location, but nothing about population or history, or what the village was like at the time my grandfather lived there. He emigrated in 1905 but I'd also like to know what it is like there today.
Thanks!

Susan: Re: Surnames for Lovaszpatona
I believe we may be cousins. My maiden name is Granger. My grandfather was Joseph Granger ( Gerencser ) born 10/25/1894 in Hungary. His parents were Joseph Gerencser & Julianna Molnar ( b. 1865). He had a brother Stephen born in 1898. All three came to the US in 1905. They lived in Buffalo, NY. A sister Julia was born in 1907. I believe she had Downs Syndrome.

Ron Bronemann: Re: Pruszki/Pruszky
You provided me with your KISS-PRUSZKI line a couple of years ago. I was hoping that you might have a connection with Edward KISS, b. abt. 1910, d. unknown, m. unknown Lucille FELDMAN(N), b. 1911, d. 1995 Toms River, Ocean Co., NJ. They were the parents of Mary C. KISS, the grandmother of my step-grandson. He asked me to do his genealogy.
Do you know the brothers of Janos KISS, b. 1879, d. 1933?
Your e-mail address doesn't want to work for me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
