Jutta: Familysearch!
I am looking for any relatives of Nikolaus Herzberger born April 25.1912 in Moravita and married my Grandmother Katharina born Alexa, she was born on June 20. 1907, birthplace unknown. Or if any one could tell me where I could get some birthcertificates. My Grandparents had to leave during the 2.WW and settled down in Groß Gerau, Hessian, Germany.
Many thanks!

Zlatica : Re: Familysearch!
A good locator of a town is :
www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm (mapquest)
and it is locating the town of Moravita in Romania.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing a Roman Catholic church records of Moravita.
You might have to hire a researcher to do the research for you in Romania.

Here are some websites:
www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
http://vivisimo.com
www.imrehun.com
www.centroconstult.sk
www.ihff.at
www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ESE/dsinfo.htm

If your ancestors married in the "old country" most likely they were from the same area.

21 HERZBERGERs and 183 ALEXAs passed thru Ellis Island to America. You might want to take a look at some of the manifests.
Romania's phone site is listing a surname Herzberger and Alexa in town of Timisoara's phone book.

Zlatica : Re: Familysearch!
Your welcome.

The church records are by a name of a town and religious orientation so in the Place search you would type in a name of a town to find out what church records they have filmed.

Temesvar: Re: Familysearch!
Cristina, I am hopeful that you could assist me. My Great grandfather, Andreas Steuer was from Deutsch Stamora, a village near Moravita. As a young boy,age 5, he traveled with his family to Philadelphia, USA in 1903. His father was Johan Steuer and his mother Catharina (Meszaros) Steuer.
I am hopeful that you can tell me a little information about Deutsch Stamora and if the local church could help with a copy of the baptismal record for Andrea or the marriage record for Johan and Catherina. I suspect that Johan was born in the late 1860's and Catharina in the 1870's.
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your kindness
Jim
