Hi,

there is a lot of question concerning the origin of this name.
At the late 12th century there was a nobel family census/listing in Hungary and that time the family was mentioned. The first part (Por) can be originated from hungarian word: pór (meaning poor).
And there is a theory that the name is coming from the near austrian castle-village name:Purpach.(similar pronunciation to the latter mentioned hungarian village Porpác)
