My great grandmother's name was Katalin Kisvarday (Kisvardy). She came to America from Hungary in 1899 at age 18, from a village called Hidas-nemethy (as written in the ship manifest. Her father had already come to America. I do not speak Magyar yet, but am trying to learn. Please let me know if anyone has information. I know nothing about her family or place of origin.

Hi! My name is Laura and I am from Romania, Tamasda.My mother's name before marrige was Kisvardai Maria Katalin, but she is married so her name is Ciucla Maria Katalin. My mother's grandfather emigrated to Brazil in 1930.His name is Kisvardai Karoly(but he used to send letters singing himself as Carlos). We have lots of letters from him.He used to send letters to his sun(my grandfather)and to his wife.We also have pictures with him and his last adress from Brazil. I was excited to find this forum and I think Kisvardai Jao may be one of the children of my grand grandfather from Brazil. I will scan aa attachement later with one of his letter.Waiting ur replY.

Köszönöm a leveledet!Kisvárdai Ferenc 1925-ig emigrált Brazíliába,családjával együtt,Erzsébet nevű lánya volt a nagyanyám.Ő azért rekedt Magyarországon,mert lezárták a trianoni határokat.Kisvárdai Ferenc kommunista volt.Amit nem tudok biztosan a gyermekei neve :Mária, Julianna,Zsófia,Károly,Rudolf(Erzsébet) A feleségét Bodor Juliannának hívták.Lakcím is ismeretlen.

By the way, Katalin Kisvardy and Joseph Balta were married in Sept. 1900 in East Chicago Illinois. He is also from Hungary, and came in 1891. I do not know where he was from. Thanks for your help.
