Koba1: Re: Tarna-Mare
My maternal grandmother's family was from there, Joseph Berkow and Julia Spitz. I was there several years ago but the Jewish cemetry is almost inaccessible, right on the border with Ukraine. Any information about them or Roza Friedman would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Stuart: Re: Tarna-Mare
I just noticed this message a year later and cannot remember if i responded. My grandmother's family came from Tarna Mare and left in 1907. Her name was Friedman Roza and she married Samuel Stein. There was a Jewish community there because there is a Jewish Cemetery right on border with Ukraine. i am wondering if there is anyone there who might still be alive and remember these family names. Thank you.

Stuart: Re: Tarna-Mare
all i can tell you about cemetery is it was locked when i was there, and not easy to get to, so i could not see graves. this was the Jewish Cemetery and is right on border with Ukraine. I could not get in to read any graves. My grandmother was from there, Friedman Roza and she married Stein Samuel.
