Russell Martin: Other Martins from Ujudvar ?
I am trying to figure out what village my grandfather Peter paul Martin is from in Hungary. I discovered ONE Peter Martin arriving at Ellis Island in 1912, and his "ethnicity" is listed as "Hungary German". His place of residence is listed as "Ujvar, Hungary", which I believe should read "Ujudvar".

If anyone knows about Martins from Germany living in tis village, or has any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!

Russell,

Clearly on the manifest the name of a town is Ujvar.
The town of Ujvar falls into Torontal megye and at present is in Romania.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :

Remember that Austria-Hungary was a nice size empire and thus the name of a present country might not be Hungary for your ancestral roots. What language did your ancestor speak?

Marton would be Magyar/Hungarian name for Martin

I have been tracing my family and found that when they came over from Hungary through Ellis island in 1910, their last place of residence was Samo Ujvar.
Their last name is also Marton.
