| Introduction | I am searching for information about my paternal grandfather and grandmother. I have learned that my grandfather, Jan Felcan (also Janos Felcsan or Felczan, who was an ethnic Slovak) was born in Abrahamfalu (Toroc)in 1874. He arrived in US in 1900 at age 25 and resided in Chicago. My grandmother, whose maiden name was Berta Gurka, was born in 1878 in Beszferczebanya and came to US in 1905 to marry my grandfather. They also traveled back to Slovakia with their then two children and returned to US in 1911, creating second set of EI records. They're records in EI database are under Felczan (grandfather's original entry) or Felcsan (second entry in 1911). My grandfather's mother was named Zuzanna Vajda. |
