IntroductionMy grandfather, Ferenc Reich, was born in Aka in 1881. He emigrated to the USA in 1900. He sent his wife, Rosalie (from Gaas, Austria) back to Aka to give birth to their first child, Anna (Reich) in 1908. Rosalie returned to the USA before WW One; Anna was raised by her grandparents in Aka, emigrating to the USA in 1922. The family farm eventually was taken by Elizabeth Reich, who married into the Treuer family. My mother is a Guelly/Guelli, born in Urbersdorf (Burgenland) on the Hungarian border. The name Guelly is probably derived from Gueli, a name found in eastern Europe and Asia. I have found Guellys in Graz and the Alps, am trying to find them in Hungary (and beyond). I have the church records back to the 1700s in Urbersdorf, on the present Hungarian border, but nothing beyond that. Urbersdorf was under Hungarian administration until 1921.
