| Hi-
I too am a Komaromi. My great grandfather, Josef Komaromi came into the country (we think he had gone back to Hungary to get married and then came back) and my great grandmother Albina came a year or so later. We have been unable to trace our heritage back to Hungary because the name is very common. The Ellis Island register is very helpful. Just curious, where did your family settle? Our family originally settled in Ohio, apparently there were a large number of Hungarians there. When I meet Hungarians they tell my what a beautiful name I have, and how I mispronounce it. (It's become Americanized a bit, losing the accent over the a now pronounced 'come-marry-me'. I have only heard of two Komaromi families in the US, ours and one other on the East Coast. My family mostly resides in the West. Best of luck, jen | ||
