My family name is also Komaromi. I won't bother covering ground others have already posted. My parents came to the US in 1951 from Austria. They were refugees following the capture of Hungary by the Russians in 1945. My father was from Doroslovo, in what is now Serbia. That area has a lot of ethnic Hungarians. He left home as a young man because he was not willing to serve in the (then) Yugoslav army in the Second World War.
As others have already stated, our name is not that uncommon in Hungary, and I am always pleased to run into another Komaromi in the US. Our family lives in Missouri. Good luck.
