NYEggNog: IGNATKO, John & Elizabeth (nee: GAROY, GAROI)24/02/2004, 04:56:40
Is Mandok, Hungary in Szabolcs megye -or- in Nyitra megye ?

My g-mother
1.) born in MANDOK, HUNGARY on 8 May 1887
2.) had worked as a chamber maid at a beautiful palace / castle
3.) emigrated to America (Scranton, PA)
4.) Her parents names were John IGNATKO and Elizabeth GAROY, GARAI. Family stories include that they may have owned a 'sauerkraut factory' near Budapest.
5.) They may also have had a son - name unknown

In America g-mother became known as ELSIE ELIZABETH IGNATKO
A.) she married and had nine (9) children
B.) she died in North Carolina on 26 April 1954, and is buried in California

I have nothing to show me how she spelled her name in Hungary. Any information / direction you can offer is greatly appreciated. Her photo and our story are at http://www.kositch.us Thank you.
