nadine: FARKAS girls at a Hungarian Dance12/04/2004, 05:14:37
Researching FARKAS, Alexander (Jr.)
Alexander was born Dec. 15, 1880, in 1904, in Pozsega County, Hungary, he married Rozália Gócza; Rozália was born December 25, 1885 in Pozsega County, Hungary as daughter to János Gócza and Katalin (Lóczi) Gócza.

The attached picture depicts Alexander and Rozália’s two youngest daughters, Rose (left) and Margaret (right) Farkas; Rose was born Aug. 25, 1907 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania USA, and Margaret was born Feb. 01, 1909 in Conway, Pennsylvania USA; both cities are in Beaver County.

They were dressed for a Hungarian dance that took place at the dance hall near St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Father Biro was pastor at the time. Guessing the photo was taken about in the 1930s, early 1940s.

I attended these Hungarian functions as a child, and remember the women being lifted to the ceiling so they could grab “grapes,” of course violin music was present.

Please contact me if you think you are related to this Farkas family. Thank you, Nadine
