Russell Martin: Re: Satchinez15/04/2004, 20:21:07
Hello again, Ana-Maria. I have learned a lot about Satchinez in the past few weeks. It is between Timisoara and Arad, Romania - this area (The Banat) was part of Hungary, and before that, art of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was populated by tens of thousands of German migrants in the 18th Century, and the village was then called Knéz. In Hungarian, the village was called Temeskenéz. If you would like to know more, please feel free to email me - just substitute the "@" symbol and ".com" to my email address as listed. I am helping a gentleman who was born in Knéz, (and knew some of my ancestors), to build a web site about this village. We would like to know more about your ancestors, too!
