I take it that it is a town named Zemplin (Slovak spelling ) Zemplen (Hungarian) in Zemplen megye, Hungary.

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Zemplen to locate a town named Zemplen.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing as having filmed Reformed church and Greek Catholic church records of Zemplen / Zemplin. You can order the films and gather ancestral information.
www.bmi.net/jjaso to familiarize yourself with church wording.

Somehow the surname Michaelo does not seem to be in proper Magyar or Slovak spelling.

The village of Zemplin's phone book is listing SZABO.

Using One Step in locating an Ellis Island manifest, there are 7 Szabos that were from Zemplen / Zemplin.
