| I think that:
1. Since Vécse is a small village in North Hungary (today Hernádvécse), there supposed to be more families with that name that are not relatives. (Vécsey/i means somebody from Vécse, so the name definitely don't have German origin, rather Hungarian) 2. There was/is a Hungarian noble family Vécsey, I don't know much about them, but a famous general Vécsey Károly took part and been executed by the Austrians after the breakdown of the 1848-49 Hungarian Revolution and Independence war. You can find some mansions of this noble family in Hungary, one of them is in Solt, a small town on the Danube south of Budapest. The family tree from the 15. century probably belongs to this family. 3. My neibourghs in Budapest are also Vécseys, and they are a Jewish family. 50-150 years ago it was very common in Hungary that people who had german family names (Jewish or German origin people) changed their names to Hungarian.
