John: Re: VECSEY KAROLY31/07/2005, 04:47:44
I have been involved in a number of the messages in this Vecsey forum as my mother was a Vecsey born in Vencsello in 1900. My Dad was born in Ujvidek (present NoviSad) in 1897 but his father came from a town to the NW of there by the name of Filipowa (also at one time St. Fulop). In the records of that town was a woman w/surname of Vecsey. The so-called "official" family tree touted by some as proving "all" Vecseys are related seems a far stetch to me until someone proves otherwise. The politics of that area have a mix of Hungarian and German people which could be clouding the issue to some extent. Anyway, I know that my mother came from very poor Vecseys and that is the reason for her and her two brothers coming to the USA. I look to hear from anyone that can cast some light that makes sense.
