| Zsolt's Greetings to everyone
Kurtyán families live around Nyírség and Nyíradony (NE Hungary, close to the Romanian border). Apparently, these families came from upper Transylvania, continuously since the end of the 18th century. The Greek Catholic church records for this border protection area are filled with Kurtyán names in the parishes of Szaniszló/Sanislau Piskolt/Piscolt, Csomaköz/Ciumesti, Terem/Tiream, etc. (the first place name is in Hungarian, the second in Romanian). Translated from Hungarian into English at Zsolt's request. Cheers, Dan | ||
