My Lázár ancestors lived in the village of Nyárád in Veszprém county, Nortwest Hungary at least from the beginning of record keeping, 1700, to the first part of the 20th century. They were protestants. Some family members moved to the nearby town, Pápa. A lot of Lázárs have Armenian background. Unfortunately I don't know about mines before the 18th century.
