Chris: Re: Daniel Vietoris06/03/2006, 19:43:20
I have been coresponding with a Vietorisz in Oradea, who claims that the Vietorisz family actually came from Italy in the 13 century.

He also claims that before moving North West into Slovakia, the Vietorisz maintained residence at the Oradea Fortress.

I doubt this claim, however, as his father left his family when he was 2 years old, and I don't see how he could know this.

I have, however, found some interesting information on the early Vietorsz family, including a Vietorisz Coat of Arms. (Please see picture)

Interestingly enough, the lion on the coat of arms is the same as the lion on the municple emblem of Oradea, where my contact claims there is a castle.

Lastly, I have traced our immediate family back to a Samuel Vietorisz (born aprox. 1850) from Mesobereng - I'm not sure on the spelling; it is hard to read my grandfather's handwriting.

If anyone would like to contact me regarding this feel free to do so: rainlights -a-t- hotmail -d-o-t- com
