shelton-culham: Re: Looking for any Gemza's20/11/2007, 19:57:24
There were 2 bothers that came to Slovakia from Bavaria in 16th century and established a small settlement Mala Frankova in Zamagurie, now county of Kezmarok, the older one was called Franz, (the village took its name from him). My antcestors come directly from these two brothers. I am searching for a chronical that apperantly still exists and a gentleman from Gemza klan started the genealogy of Gemza of Mala Frankova. I am now looking for his daughter who should have it. There was a massive emmigration from germany-austria to Slavic countries between 13 - 16 century. It is believed that there were few families, man with name of Gemse, later in Slavic countries altered to Gemza (18th century) and these emigrants settled and established farming villages.
