Barta - Carastelec forum: barta lajos: barta es a szabo csalad

Snuffy: Barta?
My great grandparents immigrated from Hungary/Czechoslavkia in the early 1900s. I'm having trouble with them. My grandfather is Les Detvay and my grandmother Mary Barta. Zusanna Barta would have come over between 1913-1923 with three boys: Zigmunt, John, & Frank.
My grandfather's parents were Josef Detvay and Rosalia Barzy (sp?)
My problem is there are about 3 different ways to spell Josef and I can't find the ship he would have come over in. I found Rosalia's ship, but I don't know if they came over together or not. I know Rosalia was traveling with their daugher, Rozalia. The rest of the family is still in Europe so I don't know where to begin trying to find great grandparents, great aunts and so on.
Any help you can give me would be great!!! I'd love to find my great grandparents names. I think my grandmother's name was Esther Czaltas (sp?)

My grandmother is the baby in the family and she was born in 1925 in the US. From what I know the oldest child, Ziggy, was born around 1906 in Hungary. Also, I believe Josef either abandoned or divorce Zusanna, and she married Mike Katvas between 1925-1930. I know Barta is a very common name, so I suppose there are several Josef Bartas.
Also, how easy/hard is it to get info on their parents? My grandmother hade mentioned someone named Esther Czaltas, Czaltos?, but I don't know if that's her grandmother or great grandmother. I think the biggest problem (and I don't know where to start!) is that the rest of that family is still in Hungary and I don't know how to find things like that.
