The Bartos surname exists also in Romania. For instance, a former Romanian Minister of Health is Daniela Bartos.
In Romania this surname seems to be of Hungarian origin, but also a Slovakian origin is not to be excluded.

Bartos surname have slovakian, czech or polish origin, it is from first name known in this slavic countries.
Many of them migrated to other Hungary area.
That is my opinion.

Janice: BARTOS from Letanovce

Looking for information about my Great-Grandparents, Stefan and Maria Bartos who lived in Letanovce ,(Letanfalvu); Spis, Slovkia.

They came to the USA 1n the 1890's and several of their children were born there; but they returned home.

I've been told that Stefan built the coffins and buried the dead of the village. He owned a large home that was used as an Inn for those who to the funerals.

Maria died in 1917 ; Stefan re-marriedand had at least 2 more children.
He was still alive in `1937 or 1938.

Are there any Bartos's living there still who can tell me more ?

I'd like to know about the town, also.

Tudomásom van Bartos Andorról, aki Bihar vármegye cséffa-nagyszalontai járásának főszolgabírója volt 1915-16 körül.

I see this server Radixforum is so excellent I found just many of my ancestors. There is genealogy Juran, from Hunt-Poznan, counts of Jur and of Pezinok, Trlinok are Vinosady, village between Modra and Pezinok.

Az én őseim közül Kovács András és Bartos Anna 1755. május 21-én esküdtek Szarvason. Feltételezem, hogy a Felvidékről származnak, mivel a városba főleg onnan érkeztek a betelepülők.

Nekem van pár információm ezzel a névvel kapcsolatban, ugyanis közvetlen őseim a Bartos család tagjai voltak.

Községnév is:
A fórumon már említett Cseh településen kívül,Bartos (szlovákul Bartoąova Lehôtka) község Szlovákiában, a Besztercebányai kerületben, a Garamszentkereszti járásban, Körmöcbányától 6 km-re délre.

Érdekesség, hogy a múlt századokban gyakori névváltoztatások során, sok német és szlovák hangzású nevet "magyarosítottak" Bartos névre. Valóban, magyar hangzásúnak tűnik a név, mégis
valószínű, hogy a gyakori Bartos név szlovák eredetű.
(Századunk névváltoztatásai c. kiadványban 1 teljes oldal ilyen névmódosításokat tartalmaz.)
Nagyon jól kutatható a név még a www.arcanum.hu/mol oldalon, ahol pl. az 1715. évi országos összeírás tartalmazza egyes települések adózóinak neveit.

Az én őseim Nógrád megyében élnek/éltek.

Nógrád megyei Bartos őseidet illetően meddig jutottál el a kutatásban? Ugyanis báró Harruckern János György 1722-ben Nógrád megyéből is telepített be Szarvasra családokat.

Az 1700-as évek vége, 1800-as évek elejéig, az anyakönyvekben e dátumokig volt tisztán követhető és biztos számomra a leszármazások igazolása, de ezt megelőző adatok is állnak rendelkezésre, de azok kutatása már nagyobb hozzáértést követelne.

Bartos István (legelső megtalált ős Bartos ágon, akinek születési idejét már nem találtam meg a kutatott vélt lakhelyen, de bármelyik közeli, szomszédos településen is anyakönyvezhették)
