Zlatica : Re: hello
There was a BENJUNG, Ferenc that passed thru Ellis Island in 1913 from Arad, Hungary.

You know that you will need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to proceed with the research.

www.dogpile.com
www.google.com good search engines

Try also Genforum and Ancestry boards.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records but you need the name of a village and your ancestor's religious orientation to order the films from which you can gather ancestral information.

Check Hungary's phone site for possible relatives.

PBenjung: Introduction
I came across your posting and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Peter Benjung, and I am the son of Nandor (Norman) Benjung who left Budapest for Canada in 1956. I am interested in learning more about the Benjung family history. All I have seen on the internet is a reference to a Matyas Benjung in the 1891 Industry and Trade Database. My father died when I was young and I am not aware of any living relatives. Any assistance or insight you can give would be much appreciated.

Zlatica : Re: Introduction
I checked in the Romania's phone site and in town of Arad there is a listing for BENJUNG, Aurelia.
www.whitepages.ro

www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator

www.matav.hu/tudakozo Hungary's phone site but no Benjung listing.

The USA White Pages are listing 3 Benjungs. Maybe you can try to get in touch with them and Aurelia in Romania and compare family information.
Benjung is an unusual Magyar surname.

Loredana Benjung: Re: Introduction
I did not check back this forum in years as for a while I did not receive a reply and I was a little disapointed.
Benjung Aurelia was my husband's granny which unfortunately died a couple of years ago. My father in law is still alive (Geza(Gheza)Benjung)and he remembers one of his dad's brothers ended up on Ellis Island. We traced him via google and we found the papers where it says he arrive on Ellis Island however we could not trace any of his relatives. His name was Nandor. It would be great if Peter Benjung turns out to be one of their relatives.
E-mail me back on this forum. I will check back periodically.

Thanks,

Loredana

PBenjung: Re: Introduction
Loredana, I believe I met your sister-in-law Sylvia in Montreal in 1991. I literally found her name in the Montreal phone book and she agreed to meet me and tell me about her family as part of my research into the Benjung family tree. She told me about her father, Geza, a dentist then living in Sudbury, ON. I have lost my notes from that meeting and it would be nice to meet her or her family again on my next visit to Toronto (if they still live there).
