| lrkauffman: Mara Berec | | Mara Berec was born 14 Aug 1869, in Hungary or Croatia. Her Father was beleived to be Steven and Mother Eva. She married Gjuro Fazekaz. They had five children. Gyorgy (George II)1892, Rosa (Rose)9 Nov 1891, Antun (Anton Michael)13 May 1895, Mariska (Mary)31 Aug 1901, and Josko 14 Sept 1904-5 Jun 1905. I have a copy of the Croatian Birth Record for Mariska, Antun, and Josko. The copies were obtained at the City/Town Clerk's Office in Lukac. The three babies were born in the villiage of Terezino Polje, (Croatian Name)and baptised at the nearby church in Lukac. It shows Terezienfeld on the birth record as place of birth. Mara had a twin sister. I do not know her name. Gjuro came to the U.S in 1905. Mara and the children came May 2 1906 to meet Gjuro in Kudron Heights, NY. Gjuro was a day laborer on the Drava River at least from 1895 to 1905. Rosa was my Grandmother. I believe she was born in Borcs, Gyor-Moson-Sopron, Hungary. Her birth record could not be found by the Roman Catholic Parson in Abda. This is where she said she was born. Does anyone know this family? |
