tgoldutah: Bogner in Brestovacs

I have family that immigrated to the USA from Brestovacs
which on the map I have {family drawn} is in Yugloslavia
north east of Franzfeld. In our history this town of
Brestovacs is always refered to Austria- Hungary. I am
having trouble finding a "real map" of the region.

I also need help in tracing genealogy in that region for
the Bogner family. Jacob Bogner was born in 1835 to Katharine Ruckgaber. They lived and died in Brestovacs,
Austria- Hungary, but their grandchildren were the immigrants that came to the USA during the years 1905-
1920.

I have history from Jacob Bogner {1835} to me, but I
don't have any information about Jacob's ancestry. All
I have is that he was a "prosperous hemp merchant".

Any help with a map of the area .... or genealogy would
be helpful and appreciated.

I found there Jakob Bogner * 27.09.1836 09.11.1913
son of Berhard Bogner * ? 1809 08.08.1849 born? he is the first Bogner in BB
and Reichenbach Gertrud * 31.07.1805 14.07.1849 born in BB

1.marriage to Rukaber Katherina * 17.02.1838 30.07.1899
They have 10 Children

Dear Sir: Read your email with interest. When people came to the US often times the spelling of their surname was not correctly identified or written down. Bogner is so close to the surname Fogner that I am curious to see if this could be a link in our genealogy. We cannot find a Fogner who can be traced back very far. We have seen the name Fogner only once. Do you think there is a connection which we have and is circumstancial or concrete in its findings? Thank you. Roy Fogner

In Backi Brestowac (Batsch Brestowatz or Szilberek) there was nobody with the name Fogner,
Only one family with the name Fogerer, bat o lot of Bogner mentioned from 1809 to 1945.

Hannelore: Bogner

I am a descendent of Laurenz and Theresia BOGNER. They had a daughter Barbara Agnes (born 1879). Barbara Agnes came to Vienna, Austria, where her Child Josefa Anna was born.
Would be very happy for any information available.

I have found that the names you mentioned:

Are the family I am looking for ... I had some wrong
dates and the family member I was working with put some
english forms speech and spelling which led me in the
wrong direction during my search.

You mention a family book that you have about german
settlers in Backi Brestovac. Can you tell me the name
of the book ... as the Family History Library in Salt
Lake City, Utah {about 50 miles from here} may have a
copy of it that I can search. If this is just a family
volume ... or is just a volume that only briefly mentions
the Bogners, I would greatly be interested in what
information it contains. Any help you could be would be
greatly appreciated!

The books name is Ortssippenbuch von Batsch Brestowatz, Author Stephan Werni and Paul Schmidt in 1986,it is out of print.
