Shirley-ann: BRENNER
I am trying to locate my grandfather's birth place and any living relatives, any sibblings he had, etc.
His name was Johann (Jonas) Brenner born 1877 or 1878.
He married Hermina Grossmayer (born in Rudolfsgnad in 1882). They had 2 children there (Margaret 1901- and Johann -1903).
They immigrated to the US in 1907.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thankyou.

Handyman: Re: BRENNER
Shirl,
My family is also a 'Brenner' family from the Transylvania area of Old Hungary. I am learning new facts of their possible flee from Anti- Jewish violence in Germany, and re-settlement in S/E Hungary, in the shadow of the Transylvanian Mts. They moved to the USA in 1917 during the beginning of the 'revolution'. Funny thing is -- that Grams was the most "Catholic" woman anyone ever knew - - now to find out that her history may be Jewish is pretty incredible.

Zlatica: Re: BRENNER
Mark,

It is possible that she was Catholic. If she was of Jewish faith, once she was in the Free World, why would she not practice her religion?

One of my ancestral name is found to be Jewish and Catholic. I am Catholic.
Do you have a name of a village for your ancestor? The church films would tell you one way or the other.
