Sepsanie: ancestors/family
Hello, I am from Holland and my name is Sandor Sepsanie. My grandfather, who's name was Jozsef Csepcsanyi got to the Netherlands in 1922. I wondered if there is any family in Hungary and if anyone could give me advice how to find family in Hungary.
If you have good advice, please don't hesitate to e-mail me: opperpauper -a-t- hotmail.com -d-o-t-
Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

Sandor Sepsanie

Zlatica : Re: ancestors/family
You could always try the Hungarian phone book site to see if any relatives still in Hungary.
www.matav.hu/tudakozo/index_e.html

There were some CSEPCSANYI,CSEPCSENYI,and CSEPCSAMJI (Csepcsanyi)that passed thru Ellis Island port to America.
Some of them could be related to you.

The Slovak Republic's phone book is listing a C'EPC'ANY, C'EPC'ANI, name might be same in pronounciation as your Csepcsanyi.

Minera: Re: ancestors/family
Hello:
The Csepcsanyi family originated in Turoczmegye. There are branches of the family in Hevesmegye and Nyilramegye as well as Bacsmegye districts. You can find family records and dates when they received their titles (Austro-Hungarian Empire)in the Pestmegye library. There are several branches of the family some name changes to Csepcsany(aka Istanovje and Jankovje)possibly Slavic changes. I found the above information while researching my own family Csepany from the same area.

Minera: Re: ancestors/family Csepany/Csepanyi
Thank you Alexander for the post.My grandmother had a cousin who lived in Linz or something like that in Austria.
My great aunt who died over 25 years ago kept in touch with them. Her name was Csepany Agnes(although the first name could have been different as she was a nun)and lived in Jaszbereny.
She did say that one of her uncles married a Julianna but
I thought her last name was Stupek. His name was Csepany Ferenc. My mother received a notice from the convent where my aunt Agnes lived prior to her death regarding the death of the cousin in Austria. After my mother's death I tried to find information regarding the relative who lived in Austria through the consulate here in Canada, but not much results as I had little information. If you have any information you are free to email me directly.

Minera: Re: ancestors/familyCsepany\Csepanyi\Csepari
Hello
I do know some very distant relatives did move to the US
last I heard somewhere in Florida. I do have relatives in
Hungary, but the family line was HUGE and I am looking for
some more closer family members. There was a few who lived in Austria and many in Eger and surrounding area. I have a distant cousin in Eger but even with that there are too many to list in the phone directories in Hungary.

Minera: Re: ancestors/family Csepany/Csepanyi
Alexander
I forgot to mention that at one time the family used all
three last names hypenated :Csepari-Csepanyi-Csepany.
The ancestor of my grandmother Csepany Elizabeth received
a title of Groff from the Austrian Emperor back in the Austro-Hungarian days, but the titles were revoked after the revolution with Austria. The closest relatives live in
Eger and Jaszbereny, and I have an uncle in Budapest. Unfortunately he is useless with any information that makes any sense as he is fond of the bottle, so to speak. The relative in Austria is much more closely connected to my family than the others as he was directly related to my grandmother.
