	Sharon: Re: DeWille, Deville The name might be Dutch? That is interseting thought. I had been told by some it sounded French. When I google the name, I find people with that name, but the info is all in foreign language to me, so I cant tell what country it is from. I cannot find any message boards with that surname. Do you know if your ancestor had social security numbers, was naturalized citizen? Did you check into a census, church records? 	ebde: Re: DeWille, Deville Hi Sharon, My name is also De Wille. I did a thorough research and can trace the family back until 1130 The name is French and originally was written "de Ville". There was a French Marquis Charles de Ville who took services as a general of the cavalry in the 1760's for the Austrian emperor. Because of the french revolution he lost all the French posessions and could not return to France. His kids settled in Werschetz and around the place. I got most of the birth and death entrances from the church books. If you want more details, also about the roots of the family contact me. I have a complete "family" CD which is in German. I would love to have more information if you think we have a common linage. :) My grandfather was Geroge Frank Dewille, born Aug 30,1901 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. His parents were Joseph Dewille born Feb 20 1860 in Werschetz and he died April 22, 1937 in St Louis, Missouri. He was married to a Theresa Schaeffer who was born April 1868 somewhere in Austria. I am not sure what yr she died at this point. Jospeh Dewilles parents were John Dewille and Magdalena Zeller. All I know about them is they were born in Austria. I have a picture of Joseph and Theresa when they were married in 1886, supposedly in Germany, but I suppose now it could have been Austria. They came to America in 1900.
