Maria: Feledi family
Hi everybody, im 26 years old and im from argentina. My grandfather came from Hungary in 1926. He was born in Rimaskokova in 1901. His name was Janos Kromholc or Kromholz as it appears in different records I have. His parents were Pavel Kromholc and Fudila Lajzo Beracko.
He marry Erzsebet Feledi, my granmother, in 1924 in Hungary. She was born in Feled in 1899. Her parents were Janos Feledi and Teréria Imrecze. My grandfathder came to Argentina in 1926 and my granny, three years later.
I know my grandmother had a sister who had a son called Bela. I would really thank anyone who could help me find my relatives or have any information.
Thanks in advance,
Maria

Maria

The town Rimakokova is now called Kokava nad Rimavicou, Slovak Republic.
To locate the town in SK use :
http://mapy.atlas.sk

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Gomork to locate Rimakokova.

Pavel is a Slovak spelling for Pal / Paul and Fudila might it be Ludmila?
Here is a site for first name translation :
www.fam.aust.com/topolcsany/names
The Slovak Republic's phone site is at :
www.zoznamst.sk and it would seem that you have some KROMHOLC and BERACKO relatives still in Kokava nad Rimavicou.

www.spectacularslovakia.sk
www.centroconsult.sk
www.slovak.org

The village of Feled is now Jesenske, Slovak Republic. Still some family by the surname FELEDI and FELEDY. Even IMRECZE and IMRECE surname lists in this same area code but not in Jesenske.

Maria: Re: Feledi family
I really cant believe all the information you supplied me with. You must be an angel. How do you know all that? Are you a genealogist? Do you live near those places? I am deeply gratefull, you have helped me a lot. I have looked up at the maps you suggested, and they are great. Even though I have found Feled (in the 1910 map) I couldnt find Rimaskokova. By any chance, do you know if there are maps of those places from 1940's? My dad wants to have a look at those. I also searched the slovak's telephone guide and im planning writting those peoples some letters. Its pretty difficult, but im going to keep on it.
Thanks a lot! really!

Thank you for the compliment, Maria. Not a genealogists, do not live near those places but was born in the Slovak Republic.
On the old 1910 Gomork megye map, the name of a town is Kokova, North-West of Rimaszombat.

Being that in 1940 those towns were in the former Czechoslovakia than the http://mapy.atlas.sk is the only one that I can suggest.

Since you are considering to send some letters, do include family information, your e-mail address and a photo of your ancestor for that extra visual aid. By the surnames your are researching, I would say a letter in Magyar / Hungarian or Slovak would be best.

Maria

The Zoznam and Mapy sites have an English version. The zoznam's English version is way on top and a British flag symbol on Mapy site is English version.

It sounded like you are looking for distant relatives so I suggested only to send letters to the ones that show up in the phone book. To work up a family tree you need to get the church records. The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records of SK so check out their website for the appropriate films which you can order.
www.bmi.net/jjaso to familiarize yourself with church wording.
www.iabsi.com/gen/public is full of help and resources

Hello Maria! My name is Sarolta Feledy and i came from Hungary.I am 31 years old. My grandfather's family came from Gömör county like yours. My grandfather was born in 1912 in Ajnácskő. Nowadays you can found it in Slovakia. My grandfather's name was István Feledy. His father's name was Gyula Feledy. It was a great pleasure to read your letter. And I am pleased that you are interested in your ancestors in a far continent. By the way you can found a lot of Feledy in Hungary, in Borsod county, espacially in Miskolc. My relatives are living there too.
Bye, Sarolta

Maria: Re: Feledi family
Hello!

I´m 24 years old and I come from Slovakia. My father is Hungarian and he comes from Rimavska Sobota region, he is 76 yrs. old and he remembers a lot about the Family name from what his mother would say. My father´s uncle went to settle down in Argentina too. I´ve always been searching if there´s any other Maria Feledi in the world apart from Hungary too and I found you.

Have a nice day!

Maria: Re: Feledi family
Wow, its been almost a year since I last read this forum. Thanks all of you people who have gladly answered me. I would really like to have more information about your father and uncle's father, Maria. Perhaps there's a connection between my family and they. Its pretty a coincidence that he had come to Argentina too as my grandmother did. I will be waiting for your answer though I know it's kind of improbable for you to get it as time has passed.

Regards to all of you,
